Roommate Assignments?

Has anyone gotten any information about when assignments of roommates will be made?

According to the housing office, anyone who has signed and returned a contract to them will have their assignment by Saturday and as early as Wednesday.

You may however not have your roommate on the assignment, for they may not have returned a contract. You will know your room number, location, and move-in date however.

Thanks!..

I want to cancel the cable service in my dorm so I need to talk about it with my roommate. The deadline to cancel is August 10, which is coming soon. What should I do if I can’t get my roommate’s info by August 10? Will I be charged a late cancellation fee?

cwq90, the email sent out about cable service said that full refunds will be available if you choose to cancel your cable service – make sure you remember, though, that the email also states your cable service will NOT be canceled unless both roommates agree to cancel it, so if your roommate wants cable, you won’t be able to cancel it anyway.

If I don’t get my roommate when I get my assignment I’ll probably have to die. I have checked my email every couple hours since mid-July hoping that maybe, just maybe it came early.

Hopefully she doesn’t think that I am TOTALLY neurotic. XD

Some people still have not received a housing contract. That is interesting that you were told that roommate notifications would arrive by Saturday.

They have been saying Early August for months. I wonder why you haven’t received your contract yet, did you submit it before the deadline? If so that’s crazy. Northwood folks are already moving in like next week.

yeah, everything was in on time. I think I just was unlucky in my lottery draw, and more people accepted than they were expecting so they are having trouble finding room for everyone, or at least getting through the paperwork. When I called yesterday, they said I am guaranteed something as an incoming freshman, and I should hear tomorrow (hopefully that means I actually get a contract tomorrow, rather than an email that says they’re still working on it).

My concern would have been not being offered anything at all, so at least you know you’ll get something.

good news: housing contract arrived. bad news: Baits II.

so it seems that they are all out now then?

There’s no way that any incoming freshman who met the deadline gets denied housing. Worst-case scenario is they start turning doubles into triples to make extra room.

wow its released… i got my roommate’s info!

I got my roommate assignment today.
= D

NOOOOOO I still didn’t get mine. D: I was so disappointed this morning!

Maybe Baits II won’t be so bad, Ryegye. Try to keep an open mind, there’s no sense ruining your semester for yourself before you even get there. Worst comes to worst there are plenty of places to hang out besides your dorm where you can meet fun people and have a good time.

What’s so bad about Baits II?

Nevermind I got mine. :D

I’ve heard Baits doesn’t have the best social atmosphere but I really would have no idea, that’s just what I read in some old threads on here. I’m sure it can’t be that bad though, you guys really don’t know a bad social life until you commute for two years like I’ve done. And U of M has more social opportunities than one person can possibly even take in in just four years, so I really doubt your housing placement will be the end of the world.

I got mine this morning too! And it’s with my friend from school, even though we both did random roommates. Oh the incompetency of the Housing staff. You’d think that out of the hundreds of freshman in the dorm that they would choose anybody but the one person that i went to school with. My friend/roommate is at summer session in Michigan right now so he’s going to the Housing Office to see what he can do.

As it turns out it is HIGHLY likely my roommate knows my sister. They are both from the same small town, and she went to the high school my niece’s ballet program is located in. Umich doesn’t even know I have an older sister so that’s a pretty wild coincidence even if they haven’t met.
