Roommate/Dorm assignments are out!!!

My D received her room assigment and has been put in a triple. I had thought we sent in her deposit early enough but I guess not. I spoke with the Residence Life Dept. and they said that half the freshman class is tripled! So if you get a double, consider yourself lucky. On the positive side, she does get a discount on her housing bill, almost $1,000 for the fall semester. Let's see if it'll be worth it.

Yeah, I was also tripled. I wanted to have a double but the 1/3 price is quite nice.

I was put in a double, but I was also put on Main Campus away from everybody else! Is anybody else on Main?

I'm on south. Are you in a learning community?

I was put in katherine hall -- witha triple. anybody know if this si a good dorm?

My D is also in Katherine Hall in a triple. It seems to be close to the dining hall and the convenience store. She spoke with "one" of her two roommates and she said it is a good dorm. My D is not in a learning community. She didn't quite understand what that involved nor did anyone really explain it to her. I wonder if she would be in a double if she chose a learning community??
Another thought, is it better to be in south campus in a triple, or a freshmant on the Main Campus in a double??? Any thoughts from anyone?

-issalovesyoux5-What floor are you on? Maybe you are my D's other roommate?

I'm also in Katharine. Personally I wasn't a big fan of the learning community system.

actually i was under the impression in may/june i HAD to be in a learning community so i don't think that effects doubles/triples.

also, i went to a bunch of alumni things and the word is it's good being on south bc being on main cmapus it's supposidly impossible to study because that's where all the parties are going on -- in the middle of the campus.

i'm actually on the third floor (because the first number in my dorm assignment is 3). my name is
clarissa. hope she is.

and i hope that helped.

Thanks for your reply. It seems there are a few triples on the third floor of Katherine Hall. I just thought that your screen name "issa...." was similar to my D's other roommate, but you are not her but probably her neighbor. I think you are right the learning communtiy thing doesn't effect a triple or double status. It is the date they receive your deposit. We sent ours in late April so it makes sense that my D is in a triple. I do wonder how long she will be tripled, first semester, second??? Will she be the one to have to move? She is so thrilled to be in Katherine, I know that she won't want to move to a double elsewhere. Did you select a learning community?? It really wasn't explained very well so my D didn't choose one. Less than two weeks to go!!! I'll tell my D to look for you in the third floor. She'll roll her eyes and say, "I can't believe you talk to people on that Website!" She obviously prefers facebook. ;)

haha. thats funny. i think my mom is too computer-illiterate for this kind of stuff. yes, i am in a learning community. i'm in the arts one. i think its really just a couple of people that hold similar interests and do activites that deal with those interests once a week or something like that. i'm actually leaving where i live now (florida) for pa this friday because i'm moving ina week early. :D im excited.

Why are you moving in a week early? Are you in the band?

ha. no. I'm actually going to be doing the music camp -- but for voice/opera.
