My roommate just dropped out. Does this mean that I'll automatically be given a new roommate? Is there any way that I can just live alone in the dorm, even if it means doing free work-study or helping out in the dorms? Thanks.

You will be assigned a new roommate. If you know someone who can move into your dorm, they may honor that. But otherwise you will be assigned a new roommate by housing.

It depends on the school. You may go roommate-free, but the semester change is coming so you’ll probably get a new roommate.

You’ll be getting a roommate. All those students that have been studying abroad this past semester will be coming back and need housing! Sorry, but chances of a room to yourself is slim to none.

I had a roommate senior year that moved in with his girlfriend halfway through the first semester and I had the room to myself for the entire year. However, he still had to pay for the room, so technically he was living there. Basically, if they can charge somebody for the room, they will, so your chances of have the room to yourself are pretty slim.
