Roommate Essay Advice

I wrote two roommate essays. I would want to know which one is better. Preferably no 2014ers.

One essay is basically a little less serious. But I think it sheds light on my personality.

The second one, I think, is well written, but some aspects (like research which I briefly touch upon in the essay) are already mentioned in my other essays and hobby part of the application.

My other question is if I am already seen one way (I know my teacher recs are probably gonna say that I'm pretty quiet), should I reflect that in my roommate essay or bring some variation.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I think that in general, consistency might have a helping hand in further solidifying you the the adcoms. However, if there are multiple aspects to your personality, please, whatever you do, don’t hesitate to reveal them. When it came to my essays, I had them all represent a single unifying theme to which I approached life, but within each one, I described different aspects, some even contrary to each other. When picking which essay to use, I would first let several people read them over and ask them and yourself which one conveys “voice” the best? Which one maintains personality with a backbone of contextualizing information? Hope that helps.

Oh, and I did repeat certain items throughout my essays, but I don’t think you need to unless it’s absolutely pivotal in revealing yourself as a person.

people say all the time on here that this particular essay needs to be silly. i made my essay humorous, but it had some serious thoughts to it and my application in general portrays me as a serious person.

good to have assurance. thanks.
