Starting this a little late, but am I supposed to talk about a story that has already happended to me or should I talk about something interesting that could happen in college that I would want to tell my roommate? or either one?

something that has happened.

That's what I thought from reading other posts. I don't understand the prompt then. Why would we be "jotting a note" to our roommate about something that happened to us years ago? Wouldn't a note be about something current?

I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to make it up... hehe.

hmmm....so it should be something like "Hey roomy, I won't be back till late tonight...oh yeah let me tell you about this random story that happened to me five years ago...blah blah..."?

I am also extremely confused as to how I should approach this essay :

My approach was to introduce myself VIA the experience. Sort of here's what I am, and heres an example. Of course, don't phrase it that way.

oh now i think it get it. we're supposed to write this note to introduce ourselves, before we even meet them

yeah, I think that's it exactly, Spyder2287.

After going to an information session with a dean of admissions, I can tell you that essay #10 (roomate) doesn't actually go to your future roomate. Just use it to talk more about yourself that you can't really fit into any of your other essays.
