I was wondering if any of you guys here could send me your roommate essays through PM. I'm going nuts over how to express myself, thought I'd like to see how some other people did them. What did all you guys/girls write about?

You know, right, that nobody will want to send you their essay since you're an applicant too who has stated that he/she is struggling with the essay?

Predator, it's really dicey to read a current applicant's essay - for both of you. The risk is too high that you will unconsciously end up with a similar theme, and admissions officers really want your voice. But if it helps, I can tell you what my daughter did. She used a specific anecdote about an activity she enjoys with long-time friends, as a way to do a 'show not tell' about her personality and sense of loyalty to her friends.
I would imagine that, overall, you want to make sure you are indeed showing, not telling, and that you illuminate a side of your character of relevance to room-mates, as opposed to professors.

predator: i will post my entire app. from last year if i can find it. but word of advice for roomate essay: make it creative, express yourself in a way that gets across to the reader. i believe in my roommate essay i brought out my culture (from texas so put in some tx slang lol)

I'm an 08' applicant too and I guess I'd like to read another essay to look for a direction in how to do this. I'm completely blank as to what to do besides the usual "what's up?" kind of note.

It would be nice if someone from a previous year can share his/her essay so I can get an idea for what to do.

Thanks! Good luck '08!
