Hey guys. I've been having some issues with my college dorm roommate for a while now and was hoping you guys could perhaps offer some suggestions on how to mediate and resolve them.

I was roomed with a random person and we have not necessarily become friends since school started in August. We never have conversations with each other, and share about 3-4 words per day.

The first issue that I'm having with him is his sleeping habits. He sleeps literally all day. All. Day. Every. Day. He gets up for his morning classes, returns to the dorm around 11am and proceeds to sleep until 5-6 in the evening. He then leaves and returns back to the dorm around 2am and the process repeats. This is entirely frustrating for me, as I don't sleep near as much as he does, which forces me to be quiet and do my work in the dark to keep from disturbing him. I'm unable to watch TV, turn the lights on, make loud movements, etc. simply out of my respect for him.

Another issue that I'm having is his sanitary habits, or lack thereof. We share a stack bathroom with 4 other guys, but my roommate seems to have an issue with flushing the toilet after he uses it and lifting the toilet seat when he pees. It's simply disgusting. I also hardly ever seem him take showers--literally since we've lived together, I've only known him to have taken 3 or so.

I think the situation that pushed me over the edge to post this was what occurred this morning. For some reason he decided to wake up at 7:30am and play a stupid game on the TV with the volume up while I was trying to sleep. Never have I ever turned on the TV when I woke up before him, nor have I ever made as much noise as he did this morning when he's sleeping. While I'm conscious of not allowing the door to slam when he's sleeping, he is not.

What do I do?
