I know with everything pertaining to college.... tests to money, to location, to LAC or Univeisity, what major, etc. etc., smaller issues don't come up. I almost feel stupid saying this, but I dread having a roommate. I'm not spoiled really, but I did have my own room all life, small as it is (that I wont have to get used too) but it was my haven. I could decompress there, veg out, eat, do my homework, all the things you get in a routine with. The thought of coming back and always finding someone else there or their stuff all over mine, makes me nervous. I have to really focus to study, I don't like a lot of noise, and I guess I'll have to find places to do that, but I wondered if I was in the minority. Anyone else dread it or do you look forward to having a roommate(s)?

My roommate's fine, but the people living in the room next to mine are LOUD! And they party everyday ontil, like, 3 in the morning! Old Harvard dorms have thin walls, and I could hear every word they were saying!! I have no choice but to study in the library whenever it's open to catch up on my readings. I can't study with noise.

I can't study w/ noise either, and I've also always had my own room. Consider buying noise-blocking headphones, and either play music (if you can find some that helps you focus), a recording of water or something like that, or just leave it silent (good headphones will still help block out noise).

I met a student that used an air cleaning machine (small one) that was just loud enough to be a good white noise and it helped with the "dorm smell" too.

If you dread having a roommate don't plan on getting married, either.

Some colleges have singles. The boarding school I go to offers singles from freshman year. There's a lot to be said for singles!

As long as my roommate understands that I'm always right, and I always get my way, everything will go swimmingly.

Yes that statement exudes sarcasm.
