<p>I have decided to dorm with my friend, but she is doing discovery Florence her first semester!!
Am I still allowed to pick her? or do I have to find someone knew? and if I do pick her does that mean I get the room to myself for my first semester?</p>

<p>I seriously doubt Syracuse housing is going to let a bed go empty for ½ semester. Based on your friend’s plans for the fall semester, your best bet is to plan on rooming with her for your sophomore year. For now, I’m pretty sure if you don’t request a specific person, you’re going to be placed with a random roommate for your freshman year (similar to the majority of incoming freshmen). When your friend comes back to Syracuse for the spring semester, she’ll probably be assigned to a random roommate too–pretty much any room with an empty bed.</p>
<p>Perhaps you should call the Housing office, ask the question, and get the answer directly from Syracuse.</p>
<p>Find another roomie; no way SU is going to leave that bed empty…I’m sure there are plenty of freshman who haven’t committed yet…</p>

<p>I agree with Rodney. Find another roommate for the upcoming year or take your chances with a randomly assigned roommate.</p>
