Roommate question:

Should I dorm with random people with the same major as I am in? (Living Learning Community) Or find roommates that don't have the same major?

I'm plan on going to SUNY Albany if that helps.

Well if you room with people that have the same major as you then you can: potentially get help if you are having a tough time with some classes and you will have a common interest with them.

I think a Living Learning Community sounds like a great idea, however…you might get sick of seeing the same people over and over again in your classes, in your dorm, etc.

I am going to UAlbany next year as well and I am going to join the The World of Laws and Justice LLC. It’s a new one starting next year. I think it’s a great thing because as a Political Science major I will be with people who have the same interests as me and I can get help with projects and studying if I need it.

I also like that I will be taking classes with the same people in my dorms because this will help me to meet people easier and make some new friends.

Personally i’d choose to room wth people with seperate majors. Just to meet different kinds of people and be exposed to different ways of thinking.

^ Same here.

I go to SUNY Albany and I’ve actually lived in two different living learning communities. I’ve had two pretty different experiences but as a freshman it was actually helpful to live with people with similar interests/majors/whatever. I would recommend it. You’ll make friends VERY easily and from my experience it’s not too much of the same thing. You’ll still get a lot of diversity if that’s what you want.

Okay thanks for the input!

LLC is only a 1 year commitment, so I’m gonna chose that route :)
