I was wondering how FSU decides who your roommate is going to be. Is it totally random, or do they make you fill something out, like a compatibility form, to choose who your roommate is going to be? I'm just nervous I am going to end up with someone with totally different interests as me, and my first year will be horrible.

Random. Other than you wpould probably have picked same dorm and have similar priority numbers.

If they still do it the same way, they ask two questions:
- Are you an early riser?
- Do you tend to study with music?

That’s what they base it on. Other than that, mostly, it’s based off your priority number.

I haven’t been asked any questions.

Yeah when I did live on campus I wasn’t asked a single question. They don’t do roommate matching or anything. It’s very random.

Have they changed the application then? I would swear that on it last year were the same two questions as always. It’s easy to miss them, especially since you don’t have to answer them (and by default, I think they’re set to “no” anyway).

It’s not like it’s a separate page or anything. I want to say they were located either right before or right after where you made your preferred hall choices.

Unless they changed it, that was what they used to match up the few people that would actually answer yes to those questions.

I applied in late March 2012 for Summer housing so who knows maybe they did. Have not seen the app lately as I don’t need on-campus housing anymore. Well seriously though…it’s not like they take that stuff into consideration anyway.

I’m pretty sure they don’t ask those anymore.
I didn’t get asked any questions when I applied for summer 2012 housing or fall 2012/spring 2013 housing.

They asked those two questions on my sons app a few years ago but did NOT ask them on my daughters app 2 months ago.
