Roommate Question

For students who have graduated or are currently attending, or even other future students like myself, what would you say is the better option - finding a roommate through Roomsync (or a similar service) or just having a random roommate?

I have strongly considered going to Roomsync and finding someone who is like me who I feel I would get along with and have fun with, but after weighing my options I might just go with a random roommate, primarily because I feel it will be better for me to be with someone who isn't just like me or has a different type of character.

Any input?

Roomsync feels too awkward, it feels wrong looking at people and trying to analyze them by their quick bio’s, then making the decision to spend the next year with them. Also, it would be weird making the first move - even though we are all doing the same thing, it seems so contrived. But at the same time, I don’t want to be stuck with someone I don’t get along with at ALL or share no interests with.

Just use room sync, I didn’t use it (for summer)and now I regret it because waiting for them to randomly assign me a room, I could end up somewhere where I’m not happy…

Definitely using it for fall

I would rather feel kinda awkward and choose someone whose living preferences are close to mine and that I think I can get along with, than get placed with someone I don’t know anything about and I could end up having clashing personalities with. Or end up with one of those people that tried roomsync and couldn’t get anyone to agree to room with them.
