Hi!! Is it possible for a freshman in the honors program to room with another freshman who is not in the honors program? Thanks!
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. The dorm the honors freshmen live in is also open to non honors students.
I called the housing department because my daughter has the same question and they told me that non-honors students can’t room with honors students in that dorm because it’s supposed to be a living learning environment. Bummer.
Well that’s kind of dumb, if you ask me. But at the same time, at least she’d be in the same building as her friend if she got into that dorm. Part of the life experience of college is living with a complete stranger.
If my daughter chooses UD she will be in the honors dorm, but she really wants to room with another engineering major. She wants to live with someone who feels her pain, lol.
I see the benefit but it’s not a perfect system. My daughter is an honors marine science major - the College of Earth Ocean and Environment also has a living learning community in a separate dorm. So she will have the benefit of the Honors living experience while missing out on rooming with all the folks in her college and major and missing some of those group study opportunities.
