I'm just wondering if I can choose a roommate who has the same major as I do. It would be a lot easier to socialize if we had similar interests.

If you know someone specifically you can request to room with them. As far as I know, you can’t request to be with someone random who has the same major, but it never hurts to try, might as well call housing.

theres a program that does this for engineers, but thats the only major.

^ What program is that?

There’s East Hall, part of Tolbert community.

[Academic Initiatives & Enhancement >> East Hall Engineering Community](http://www.housing.ufl.edu/aie/aie_east.html)

zebes

2 options: you request someone and you both put either others UFID #'s or you try to live in a learning community hall (artsy stuff in reid? and engineering in east?).

Other than that, you cant request a roommate.

unless of course a humanities major decides east hall as #1 choice

Yep, always possible. You can even switch rooms, if you parents have the right last name.
