<p>Roommate selection was supposed to be available until the 7th, so I think you already passed the deadline, maybe that’s why it doesn’t work … keep trying though, maybe you get around it.</p>
<p>Try just putting her first and last name and nothing else. See if that works.</p>
<p>Oh really? The e-mail said two different dates, so I wasn’t sure. Does that include housing preferences too? If everything was supposed to be changed by the 7th, why is the portal up for two extra days? I tried putting just her name, and it didn’t work.

<p>^ It didn’t work for you either? Hmm, that’s strange. I’m thinking it’s because my roommate didn’t check the “include in search” box under the “Roommate Options” page.</p>

They may have typo’ed the “May 7th” when it should’ve been May 9th. </p>

<p>Since you’re still able to change these, my guess is they’ll count.</p>
<p>The deadline for choosing roommates is sort of vague. The email USC sent on housing said what blissfulting quoted but it also says:</p>
<p>“Prior to May 7th, you may update your application preferences and add roommates.”</p>
<p>It seems it was still working though, but now that it’s May 10th I guess everything is out of the question. I would try changing stuff up until the system shuts down.</p>
<p>Where are you getting May 7th? My son’s email says May 9th:</p>
<p>"Thank you for applying for USC Housing for Fall 2010/Spring 2011. We would like to update you on the application and assignment process. Because the assignment process will begin on May 10th, any changes to your housing application including preferences and roommates need to be made by May 9th as the application portal will be shut down. Housing assignments will only be made for incoming freshmen who have submitted their enrollment commitment form and deposit to the USC Admissions office. </p>
<p>Notifications of assignment will be sent out beginning May 15th via e-mail. </p>
<p>Once you have been notified, you will then need to log onto your online application and complete Steps 9 through 12 to confirm your assignment. If your assignment is not confirmed online through this process, it will be cancelled and your space released to pending applicants."</p>
<p>This comes after the above quote:</p>

<p>Like I said, my guess is that it was a typo or mistake of some sort. Because you are still able to update preferences and add roommates even after May 7th. :/</p>

<p>If they start sending email notifications of housing assignments on May 15, I wonder how long it will be until everyone is notified about housing assignments. ??</p>
<p>^ I’m wondering the same thing. Will they start with the earliest applicants and assign from there? Hopefully most early applicants will receive their assignment on Friday.</p>
<p>Hey guys! I e-mailed housing and got this response:</p>
<p>"Hi ______,</p>
<p>If your requested roommate confirmed your request before this morning, then the request is in our system."</p>
<p>^ I got it on Monday, so any changes made before Monday morning count! I guess the May 7th part may have been a typo like blissfulting mentioned. :)</p>
