Roommate Survey

To fellow Class of 13ers: in the large acceptance envelope, I received the financial aid offer, the acceptance letter, and two small booklets, along with a survey. I did not, however, receive the roommate/interests and hobbies survey alluded to in the FAQs on the college website. Was this an elision, or will that arrive soon?

I think I read that we will get it/it will be online after they get all the deposits in.

You’ll receive forms in a series of three paper mailings plus weekly e-mails, but they’re also listed at [Carleton College: Information for New Students: Checklist](http://apps.carleton.edu/student/new/mailings/)

The roomate questionaire is in the first mailing that’ll be in mid-May

For what it’s worth, my daughter went through the roommate questionnaire process two years ago. While she was very detailed in answering questions about herself and what she’d like in a roommate, Carleton ended up putting her with her polar opposite in almost every possible way–night-owl vs. morning person, liberal vs. very conservative, extremely religious vs. secular, etc. We never could figure out whether this was intentional in a contrarian sort of way… or whether they simply chose to ignore the questionnaire results. Either way, it turned out not to be a bad thing at all–though they chose NOT to room together this year. :)

So weird…I actually had a dream last night that we all went to Carleton to get our room/roommate assignments and move our stuff in, even though it was definitely still May of this year.

I think I was in a triple in Myers (FYI, Myers doesn’t have triples…:)).

petrosbasileus, just out of curiousity, did you end up choosing carleton?

Roommate survey completed by S two years ago had him rooming with a GREAT match. Rooming together this year with plans to do so next year. While some differences, temperment and personalities were very similar and worked out beautifully.

Yeah, Shempi, I did settle on Carleton. Thanks for all of the replies again; I guess I’ll be getting that questionnaire soon enough.

congrats! way to base your decision on fit rather than prestige.
