<p>As an incoming freshman, I was quite anxious as to who my roommate would be. I know that it is wrong to judge a book my its cover, but after communicating a little bit with my roommate, I can already see that we would not be able to get along.</p>
<p>Both of us are trying to switch, but not much of it is really working.</p>
<p>I could request a room change, but then I would have to give up my dorm, which I like very much.</p>
<p>I guess my question is, to all those who are experienced, how did you deal with your roommate if you guys didn’t get along?</p>
<p>Also, do most people at BU have the same roommate each year or a different one each year?</p>
<p>How often do room changes occur and how often do roommates change during someone’s lifespan at BU?</p>
<p>Well you could just do a swap with someone you already know in the same building. I’m not sure which dorm you are living at but if you have someone that is willing to do a direct swap with you (meaning you would take their room and then they take yours) that would probably work best. But for that to happen, you need to find a person. So that might be difficult.</p>
<p>I was lucky enough to have a great roommate freshman year. We got closer in the second semester but even at first we got along great. To this day (I’m going to be a senior) she is my best friend and to be honest, we don’t have everything in common but we just understand each other. So maybe you guys will get along really well and you have no idea. If you guys end up living together and you really don’t get along, you can do a switch in the fall. A lot of people switch like in September/October and it works out fine. Oh, and you can choose your roommate after freshman year so it won’t be the same every year.</p>
<p>So if I were you right now, I’d just stick with it and see how it goes. If you really want to switch, then just switch in the fall unless you can find someone to do a direct swap with you right now. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
