Asian people are crazy.

I work up this morning to my roommates parents yelling at him on the phone because he got a 95 in calculus.

Asian people are crazy.

Why did he tell them?

haha o god. if i get a 95 in calculus i run out of school dancing and shouting like the kid in that movie, accepted, that got into princeton

Are you sure it was "yelling" and not "shouts of joy?"

Because he "only" got a 95.

can I suggest that you stay away from race based statements such as the one you used, and rather focus on the situation?

why, they are, is it different when someone says that bad grades are unacceptable in a Asian household.

I personally find a statement like "Asian people are crazy." to be offensive. If you want to argue that there are cultural differences in learning styles and expectations, fine. But calling an entire race of people crazy based on one situation isn't appropriate.

I think it is.

Why? (ten char)

That's why you go to UB.

And if your statement wasn't prejudiced then mine definitely isn't.

and whats wrong with UB?

And what's wrong with demanding parents?

I asked you a question.

But I will answer yours, Demanding parents ruin the relation ship with their children, My roommate Feels Awful everytime he talks to his parents. Thats whats wrong.

UB's TTT. Therefore you must be stupid. Does that make sense? No? Judgemental? Definitely. Over-generalization? Exactly.

Point I'm trying to make is, its wrong to judge all Asian people as being crazy just cos your roommate's parents are anal bout his grades.

I agree with UB. From what I've seen on this site, it's fair enough to generalize. People generalize because they've seen enough of a stereotype to believe it to be relatively true.

Fair enough to generalise 4 billion people as being crazy based on two (possibly one) parent(s)?

I don't think so.

I guess to you, horses in kazakhstan vote, and women are flogged.

and its people like sixsixty that make people have to be PC and only make race based stereotypes offensive. Take it as a generalization (which it is) and not word of God...you're intelligent enough to know

Would I be generalizing if I said people that big-deal something like this have nothing else to do? Go find something else to do. This is an internet forum...nobody cares.

"big-dealing"-nice word :)
