My son is attending next year. My daughter is deciding between BU and another school.

So how good is the housing office at honoring student requests and finding suitable roomates… both my kids are substance free, no overnight guests type kids… Studious fairly quiet, not party animals…

If a kid wrote on the housing form that they do not want overnight guests in the room, would this be taken into account when selecting a roomate…

Thanks

No, it won’t be taken into account at all. The only things that your child would write on the form is his/her top five choices for location, a roommate if they have found one already, and a few other things. They could also choose to request a single if it’s in your price range.

The best thing I would suggest is for your daughter/son is to find a roommate with those preferences ahead of time (like on ■■■■■■■■ or the BU Class of 2016 Facebook group.

However, it is college, and he/she is going to have to get used to living with other people who might not have the same preferences as him/her.

Luckily, if they don’t like the roommates they are assigned, they can apply for a direct swap with another student after 2 weeks into the semester.

i would say that most roommates are pretty respectful and that if your daughter feels uncomfortable with her roommate having someone over for the night, it probably wouldn’t happen. although, i agree with shiningstar. one’s living habits change a lot in college and this probably won’t be a problem once your daughter starts getting accustomed to having a roommate.
