Hey guys,
Does anyone know how Georgetown picks roommates? Is there a survey or something?
Thanks!

It's call CHARMS

Basically it's like a dating service, you don't know the person's name, but you can screen them by characteristics (such as smoker/sleeping habits) (you fill out a survey before you begin)

You talk to them in a message style blog and most people check each other's facebook. Then one person will send an invite for rooming, if you accept, you guys are roommates.

when can we start using this CHARMS service or w/e?

I think over the summer. After they have the whole class enrolled, I think there's alike a 2-week window or something that it goes on.

You don't have to use CHARMS though. You can apply to be on a living-learning community (such as Culture and Performance, Social Justice, Living Well, Politics, Women in Leadership, Muslim-interest, Global Living, etc.). If you don't want to use CHARMS, or don't find anyone you really click with, Georgetown will match you up using the results of your living interest survey. Sometimes this can be better...I did use CHARMS and ended up with the "nightmare roommate", but ended up moving and had an awesome randomly-assigned roommate!
