Does anyone know the date that we will find out?
Also, will it be posted online or just come in the mail?

mail last week of august

late august for actual roommates but you can find out if you got a single, double, or triple.

someone correct me if i am wrong, but you can find out already (I did two weeks ago) if you look at your BARC account and see the charges for room and board; afterward, check the official UCSB room and board rates listed on the housing site and match the prices with the ones charged on your bill to find which dorm you got.

mine fit exactly with the preference that i first picked in june ;)

yea the type of housing is already up on the BARC but not the roommate or the dorm :(

Okay, thanks! i already checked and got my first choice for single, double etc. but how can i switch my number of meals per week? i want to increase it

Oquendo how did you find out more than just what type of room you got?

lol, i did not really find out that much more. i just knew that out of the four choices manzanita, san raph, el dorado, and i forget the other one, that i got a single from manzanita with a 10 meal plan since it matched with the charges from my BARC account.

i explained it above^ in my earlier post.

I am in the santa Ynez, and I got an e-mail that said I wouldn’t find out until september 3rd.

@Oquendo: I’m not sure how you matched the BARC billing to the actual res hall you got… I was under the impression all the res halls cost the same amount of money with the only variable being the meal plan and if you got single double trouble.

Check this out:

http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/hchoices/hchoices-images/pdfs/reshall-costs-payment.pdf

Then look at your BARC account and check the room/board fees. Mine matched exactly with the price listed for a single with a 10 meal plan(which I had originally wanted). I deduced that i got Manzanita because thats the only single i had applied for.

You answered your own question: Resident halls don’t cost the same amount BECAUSE of meal plans and room types.

Cheers.

but if you applied for doubles for each res hall and the same meal plan, then there is no way of knowing which res hall you got because they would all be the same price. I think that is what awchang is saying.

-ahh…then i suppose it’s all subjectively different. in my case, i only applied to manzanita and el dorado, so it was pretty easy for me to tell which one i got.

sorry for the confusion.

shoot, i think i got hit with a triple, which means i went late in the lottery because a triple was one of my last choices…

^yeah, but look at your bill, you’re probably paying almost half of what i am…i got a single, but am having some financial problems covering tuition this quarter :(…maybe i should have a got a triple?
