Rose Bowl Questions!

Where does everyone usually stay in Pasadena when going for the trip? I would like to be with a lot of the college students that are going for the game, including Oregon fans. I am planning on being there on new years eve and staying a day or two after the game. Should I stay in LA or right outside of Pasadena and then drive to the rosebowl? I want a place that there will be a good nightlife where I will be able to go out and see fans from Wisconsin and Oregon who are there for the game.

Thanks.

Staying in Pasadena may be very $$$. Fans are all over town. Many stay in downtown LA at the big hotels. People tend to wander all over LA–beach towns, Westwood, Beverly Hills, etc. LA is so big there is no one place people will be except game day. I’ll be staying about an hour away but it’s an easy drive on game day. No LA traffic

I found a few hotels on Colorado that were reasonable. How is the nightlife in Pasadena? This is the hotel I was looking at getting in Pasadena? Heard anything about it?

The team stays in P. I went over there NY’s eve and it was not that happening. Most folks were nonfans lining up for the parade next morning. Also bars wanted huge covers.

So do you think LA would be the better bet? I know Badgertrips is staying in LA at the Omni Los Angeles at California Plaza. It is very expensive at 280/night but I might do that. Do you think this would be the better bet because there will definitely be a lot of people from Wisconsin considering the fact that it is where all the people from Badger trips will be?

I’d probably go with the hotel Badger Trips is going to be at if you can afford it. See if that hotel has any extra rooms that aren’t set aside for Badger Trips. Alternatively, search around for hotels right near the Omni Los Angeles, since wherever they are is probably a good location (and if it’s not, at least you’ll be around a lot of fans who’ll know where to go).

I have a few friends who live in LA and they’ve said the New Years LA nightlife is a lot better. It might be fun to go check out Hollywood for New Years too, although it’s probably ridiculously expensive, it’s probably a fun experience.

^^ I think that is what I am going to do. I called the omni and they have rooms available for cheaper than what Badgertrips is offering.

One of the better events is the big official pep rally. You can find out there about other stuff going on. Free too. Band does shows around town. It really is very dispersed. Luckily I don’t worry much about hitting that stuff anymore. I like seeing them build the floats in Pasadena–you can even help. And avoiding most of the younger drinking crowd. I’ll be home in the hotel resting watching other bowls.

I just called Badger Trips and they were amazing to work with.

Thanks!

I have to agree when my daughter as a freshman went to the Rose Bowl last year, with her roommate, we used a tour and the transfers and the assistance were a big help. In addition, being in a hotel with other Wisconsin people was really nice for the girls. The extra costs did make some of the logistics a lot easier for her, it was her first time in LA and at a bowl game. In addition, when they looked into independent transportation to big rose bowl events it was very expensive, so those costs are not minimal (unless you take buses and trains).

Often a trip package can be cheaper after you consider all of the extras- transportation to various points, and taxes not quoted in room and other rates. A locally based tour business needs to keep its good name and should be a reasonable deal for what you get.

We are staying in a nice 3.5 star hotel for 4 nights, have a rental car and 2 RT flights from Seattle for about $1250 for two adults all in plus game tickets @$250ea. But i know LA pretty well and wanted go go other places while in town. Hotwire is my friend.
