I cut my decision down to UIUC and Rose Hulman. It is clear that I want to go into engineering, so I'm not worried that Rose is engineering/math/science only. Although vastly different, I like both campuses. I really like that the largest class size at Rose would be around 35 students; I don't think I would love big lecture halls, and I like the fact that professors might actually get to know my name. I suppose that the only thing holding me back from immediately committing to Rose is the guy/girl ratio. I'm a guy, and 80/20 (or close to that) looks pretty brutal. Does anyone know if being so close to Indiana State helps with this? Is it difficult to find chicks to hang out with at Rose??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One of the jokes someone made on the Rose-Hulman subreddit (off of reddit) is to get yourself a fleshlight for the four years since it’ll be a great investment.

Aside from that , it really comes down to personal preferences and standards. I came from Los Angeles, so I was definitely spoiled by attractive people…so it was as if no one was attractive here when I first came.

Besides that, you’ll probably be fine with finding a girl or two to become friends with…both don’t expect much.

We all joke about the ratio here, but it’s really not as terrible as you might think. It’s actually about the same as the ratio in the engineering colleges at most schools, the only problem is that we’re all engineering. You get used to it. If you want to meet and hang out with chicks here, you just have to put in slightly more effort at the beginning of the year to meet people and make friends. Coming from an awkward nerd in high school, it’s seriously not that difficult. Most people here don’t really go over to ISU, there’s enough to do around campus. Do NOT let the ratio hold you back, Rose’s academics and sense of family really is worth it.

you all seem to know about rose. so i ws hoping i could get some help.
