Please help. I am having trouble deciding which school to attend. I have been accepted to both schools and received financial from both as well. My hope is to obtain a fair paying job relating to my major (Computer and Software Engineering) rather quickly upon graduation.

So I guess my question is which school will give me the better opportunity for the future?

bump. please, anyone?

Hey I’m from Southern Indiana so I happen to know a little about Rose. Rose has a fantastic reputation around here, in fact I know quite a few engineers locally who went there. The only thing I would have against it is that its surrounding city could be much better. I don’t think you could go wrong with picking Rose to be honest.

Another thing to think about is the price difference. Did it end up about the same?

My son thought he wanted RH and was very excited to visit. It was too small for him. The reputation of RH is amazing though. I think as someone told me, the cream rises to the top- if you do well at either school, the opportunity will by yours to pick from

Both are excellent engineering and CS schools. You should have good career prospects if you do well at either of these.

However, they are rather different. If you want a small, more nurturing environment at an entirely tech-focused school, go for RH. If you want a huge research powerhouse engineering program housed at a large land-grant university, go for ISU.

I’ve visited ISU. The campus is gorgeous and Ames is a nice small town, if that’s your thing. You can read my impressions here: [Iowa State University Visit - noimagination](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vibe/iowa-state-university/6959666.html)

irishevan99: no it was not. Rose-Hulman would have actually cost me a total of $30,000 more over the course of four years. Which did end up playing a factor.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I ended up choosing Iowa State. It still provides great opportunities for a fraction of cost.

^ Great choice! ISU was one of the three schools I ended up considering. You will do well there.
