Rose Hulman vs UIUC (Computer Engineering)

The title speaks for itself, I have been accepted to both, but I have no idea how to compare the two, acknowledging that both are good, what would your opinions be? I am leaning towards UIUC, but for no tangible reason. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Wow, totally different in every way. Why did you apply to these schools? Won’t those factors help you evaluate them? What matters to you?

Yes, they are very different. Big public flagship research university with graduate programs, very strong in engineering, and a small, undergrad only, engineering focused school. Geographically, they’re not too far apart, but CU is a slightly bigger urban area/community, with somewhat more going on, and closer to a more major city (Chicago vs. Indianapolis). If those differences don’t push you one way or another, I think otherwise the most major difference is that UIUC has a lot more going on in terms of courses and research, with lots more opportunities in terms of what to do during your school years and thereafter, but, perhaps somewhat by nature of size, does some amount of weeding out in the lower level courses. My impression of Rose Hulman is that it’s a smaller, friendlier, more supportive type place.

Oh, UIUC is building a new ECE building – scheduled to be completed in 2014:

And of course there’s also the issue of price. If you’re an Illinois resident, or you get some aid from either of these schools, that could be a factor.

Caveat: I work at UIUC, and my son is a high school senior, interested in Computer Science, who has applied to both UIUC and Rose Hulman.
