can you perfer admit into Ross Ugrad program from the engineering college?
It says that in the university of michigan web site but the Ross SOB website only mentions school of arts and sciences?

bump bump bump

r u asking if u can do preferred admit to ross, and then ur backup is engineering. if so, i dont think so, because all ross preferred admits (if accepted) are in LSA first year. i got accepted to engineering and i seem to remember that the only way u could do ross is if you put LSA as second choice.

I think you have to do LSA. I would have applied to engineering if I could have. After taking all of the engineering pre-req classes for 3 semesters and knowing how I've done in them, if I would have been able to do engineering, my GPA would have been much higher when I applied to Ross. This semester, I'm going to end up 1 point in Econ 102 away from a 4.0 - all from classes that I would have taken last year, and therefore would have boosted my GPA when applying to Ross. (77% ranking in the class was A, I had 76.6%) Replacing LSA classes like Spanish and Great Books with computer programming, Econ, etc. would have been awesome.

So with that said, if you are more comfortable doing the work for engineering - focusing on classes like math, chem, physics, computer programming, etc. - apply to engineering, get a high GPA, and move into Ross after your first year. The Pre-Admit program is very competitive, so you might want to just go for Engineering and rock that and Econ. You'll be good to go then.

My friend got into Ross and is now in civil engineering his frosh year. I thought it could be done

I applied the first year of the pre-admit program, they told me it could not be done back then. Things may have changed, you should just ask the school. They are pretty quick with answering questions.
