Ross BBA Decisions!

Hey, haven't been here in a long time (got banned for some comments I made), but thought I'd come back. So, post your b-school decisions, cuz I'm sure half the people here stress 24/7 about getting in.

Decision: Accepted!
GPA: 3.26
Major: Cellular Molecular Biology
Courses: Orgo I (C), Orgo IH lab (C+), Math 215 (A-), UC 151 (B+), GTBOOK 191 (B+), Orgo IIHH (A), Orgo IIHH Lab (A-), Math 216 (B+), GTBOOK 192 (B+), MCDB 300 (A), BIO 225 (B-).

ECs: Chi Psi Fraternity, AED Premed Fraternity, RHA, MSA HICs, MSA CiCs, volunteered at Sunrise Nursing Home, worked in a Biology research lab.

Awards: IFC Most Outstanding Freshman Award

Since they also looked at HS grades, here's a quick rundown:
GPA: 4.0, 6.36 weighted
SAT: 2290
ACT: 34
Took 17 APs, got 12 5's.

I guess college grades aren't the only thing that matters. Hope you all got in! PM me with any questions you got.

Oh, yeah, I'm planning on double majoring in Business and Biology.

Congrats!! But my question is: If you are as smart as it appears, why are you attending the University of Michigan and not an ivy? Did you resort to your safety school?

w t f? Ross is a top 5 business school...What in the hell are you talking about KingJeff?

yeah, i'm here cuz of scholarship money. i was rejected at three ivies, but got into Duke and Hopkins with no scholarship.

i don't know why you'd think i was smart with a 3.26 GPA though.

Maguo1, i would have done the same thing. Take the money and the great school.

I'd go to UMich w/ no money over all of those schools...

Me too loslobos71...Michigan owns all other schools. I don't think I'd be getting a better all-around education / everything anywhere else. But people are different, I suppose.

Anyways, maguo1, did you hear from the internet? I didn't apply, but I'm patiently waiting to see which of my friends made it...excited! And congrats!

they came by email at 4:40. i'm expecting the bars to be packed tonight.

Hehehe...but there aren't THAT many people who apply, are there? (I know nothing of this, just can't imagine that there's be enough applicants on campus to fill bars.)

i think 900 applicants. 291 accepted. since we're all freshman, there's only one or two bars that we can get into easily.

Oh, that's true. I'm afraid to ask people so I'm just facebook stalking...you need to join the Class of 2010 BBA group!

I agree. I just hope I can get in for grad. school. I just met the VP of BBA. His sister just married my cousin :)

oh, i made a mistake. I actually got a B+ in orgo I lab.

maguo, first, congrats! Your SATs and high schools stats are spectacular... so you're obviously smart. Your 3.26 probably had something to do with your party schedule and courseload. I will guess more the former since a pre-admit friend of mine had lower stats (good, but not near yours) and a similar couseload... and had a 3.8 something. Although she got an A in Orgo, she decided to drop the second major and said Orgo was a killer.

hey I will be attending UM next year and I know this is off topic a little but can someone tell me what the essay topics were for UM freshmen applying to Ross this year? I just wanna get a general idea..thanks oh and congrats maguo 1!!

Yeah, don't worry about your 3.26. You had a tough courseload. Looks like your quant skills will be good enough anyway. Also, you will be pleased to know that while your 3.26 does appear on your transcript, it will no longer be part of the Cumulative GPA. Once you're in Ross, your GPA starts over (like a transfer). So you can start fresh and do better. To some people that's good news; for others it isn't.

got into ross as well

but i am moving on to wharton

peace out

the essay topics were:
1) Why do you want to come to the Ross School of Business?
2) The BBA Program requires excellent teamwork skills and there are many group projects in the curriculum. Tell us about a group or team experience from college that either went very well or that ended badly. In retrospect, would you have done anything differently? Please tell us why or why not.
Using an example from your college experience-aside from classes and classwork-please tell us what activity is most important to you and why. Please use a different example from the one used in Question 2.

we were capped at 500 words for each essay.
