Something like the Mathematical Economics and economics double concentration might be good. Infact, they suggest it on the Math dept website.

Can engineering students declare a minor in business or economics (or anything else) through Ross?

they can declare and econ minor. business minors dont exist at umich, but if they were to get admitted to the bschool, then they can always double major in business and engineering.

^ Ah okay thanks. So Econ courses for an Econ minor are taken in Ross, and don’t require you to be admitted to the business school?

Actually Econ courses for an Econ minor are taken at LSA.

I applied LSA and was looking into going into Bio/Chem but I think I really want to go to Ross. Do I just apply to Ross as a Sophmore(that is if I get in haha)?

Yes… Most people will not get into Ross anyway preadmit. If you were at all unsure about getting into LSA, you probably didn’t have much shot at Ross pre-admit.

I believe you will have to take Calc (any Calc), Econ 101, and English your freshman year. And I’m sure there are some other preferred things but I’m not sure what they are (probably 2 semesters of Calc or Calc + linear algebra, maybe 2 of Econ, maybe a stats class).

I’m not sure they’d care too much about linear algebra, but I agree with Qwerty about the parts.

Well, that is a huge relief. So, is acceptance to Ross based off of your GPA after your Freshmen year?

Yeah. Also getting good grades in the classes they really care about (aka Calc I, Econ), would help. I’m assuming you’re a prospective Freshman atm?

“Well, that is a huge relief. So, is acceptance to Ross based off of your GPA after your Freshmen year?”

Primarily, there are a couple of other things (the essay for instance) though.

Yes, I am a prospective Freshman. What is the acceptance rate into Ross?

I’m not sure, but about 250 people are admitted into the program each year. Thats in addition to about 100 preadmits.
