Ross or UCLA or Haas or Goizueta

I have made a decision to accept one of these offers. I would like to see if you would have made the same selection. All four options are amazing and I feel so fortunate. I would like to pursue a career in management consulting. Which option would you have chosen and why?

1.University of Michigan Ross Business School I was selected as a preferred admit.

2.UCLA (Pre Business Economics).

3.UC Berkeley Haas Business School Global Management Program (GMP). Also, got the Regents Scholarship.

  1. Emory University (Pre Business) with the hope of transferring to the Goizueta Business School.

All of those schools will be target schools for Management Consulting at the undergraduate level, with a slight edge for Berkeley and Ross.

I would recommend that you go for Berkeley since it seems to be cheaper for you. However, if money is not much of a concern and fit is a bigger concern - let us know, because then my advice changes drastically.

@yikesyikesyikes Suppose money is not a concern and fit is more of concern what would you recommend? My number one concern is my future internships and future career. Everything else comes second and third.

I think it is really between Michigan and Berkeley, then.

Berkeley and Michigan have significantly different student life. Michigan cares significantly more about sports, with Football being the hallowed ground. Basketball is also a big deal (especially recently, with our Basketball team performing well), and Hockey as well. Berkeley is warmer and I would argue has a more entrepreneurial culture (although some of my friends at Michigan would contest that). Greek Life is bigger at Michigan. Clubbing/Stereotypical partying is bigger at Michigan - although you will find plenty of it at Berkeley as well. Berkeley has a greater worldwide reputation, especially in Asia. Berkeley is in a really major (and continually growing) economic zone, Michigan is not. Both business schools will be heavily recruited for MBB and Big 4 strategy practices. Both schools have somewhat elitist cultures, but it seems to be more prevalent at Berkeley (more sink or swim). Both schools are very liberal, but Berkeley takes the cake by far (often is the poster child for extreme liberalism on college campuses). Both schools have top academic programs across the board. Michigan has a much larger endowment and significantly less budget issues. Michigan also has an arguably more engaged alumni base.

Disclaimer: I go to Michigan, but I have tried to be as neutral as possible.
