Ross PA- first semester grades

If EA is decided in December, does Ross PA see your mid year report and transcript? Will a B in AP calc look bad if they do see first semester grades?

No, Ross will not see your grades from this year. Don’t worry!

If I want them to see my first semester grades, will I have to opportunity to send it to them? @Missalyssaxox

Only if you get deferred, in which case you can send them your updated grades and they will review your application again. But don’t get too hopeful about Ross PA-very few are selected.

If mid year report is submitted, they may see the grade as the decision is out in February or later. Nevertheless, once you are admitted to UMich, grades are not as important for Ross pre-admission. They look for something else.

Interesting @billcsho
What do you think the “something else” is?

@brantly EC, cultural background, etc. They want to build a diversify class. Note that the admission rate is very low for Ross pre-admit, but the admission stat is not much higher. They also have higher percentage of URM and less in state student than the UMich overall.

I was told Roth Pre-admit does not favor in-state students by the Roth admission officer at a information session. In-state and Out-of-state students are treated the same.

We should probably not call it Roth if seeking admission! My S has 4.0, 34 ACT. Ross pre-admit? I just hope he is accepted to UM as he is OOS!

@yorkie97 I used to work with Admissions at Ross. Yes, they will see your mid-year grade report. A “B” in AP Calc is not favorable, especially since it is a quantitative course. With 11% admissions rate (Ross PA), you typically need to have all As in AP courses

@billcsho and @brantly Bill- your statement is inaccurate. I used to work with Admissions at Ross. I am also a Ross grad. After a student is admitted to U of M, Ross Admissions Officers conduct their own, independent, holistic review of the application. All elements of the application are crucial - GPA, curriculum, test scores, essays, activities, etc.
