Basically, I was accepted into the Ross Pre-Admit program, in the school of Engineering. I was also accepted into Nyu Stern. The deal is that I live in New England, and Michigan is a long ways away from home. Yes, I am a typical high school boy who can't wait to get out of the house and experience some independence, yet, at the same time, I don't want to be so far away that the only time I see home is Thanksgiving and Christmas. Once a month is a little better. But, I also don't want to turn down an amazing opportunity.
So, at either school, I would try to dual major. At Stern, I think I would dual major in finance or marketing and either applied math or computer science. I might even try for a producing minor in Tisch. At Ross, I would try to dual major in some kind of engineering (leaning towards computer science) and either Finance, Management, or Marketing also. I'm aware that Michigan is probably better suited, but is it that much more suited to justify going that far away? Oh, and I really don't care that much about the greater social life at Michigan, because TBH, I don't drink or smoke so yea, that's not really a factor. The reason I have these majors set up is that while I want to go into a business career, I also have a passion for video games, movies, and engineering as a whole (At Michigan I might choose a different engineering), and I have always been quantitatively talented. All opinions are welcome
Btw, this is a repost from the Michigan forum.

Can you double major at Michigan? Most public schools don’t let you or you can but only one goes on the diploma. I know at NYU you can double major and minor. Just confirm you can double major at Michigan.

Yea, I’m sure you can double major. [Dual Degrees - Stephen M. Ross School of Business](<a href=“BBA Specializations | Michigan Ross”>BBA Specializations | Michigan Ross)

it seems like ur pretty set on umich being the better fit for you, and the only thing that stern has going for it is the proximity.

Haha, pretty accurate. Although, I think Stern also has greater internship opportunities

Yeah internship opportunities are definitely better at Stern. However since NYU’s engineering department is at Poly in Brooklyn I think it might be a better fit, major wise going to Michigan if you can double major engineering and finance or w/e. What is it though that you want to do for a career? Work in the corporate side of the video game industry? Or actually help make them? I saw some articles a while ago about NYU having a video game degree, O_O don’t know much though. If you are looking more into entertainment and business then I would definitely go with NYU.

TBH, I’m pretty confused. Some days I wake up thinking I’d like to be an ibanker, other days I wake up and say I wanna make the next big game. That’s sort of why I want to keep all options open, and why Michigan may be a better fit major wise. On the other hand, I could do cs at nyu, or math, or w/e

NYU does have a top ranked mathematics program. If you want to do engineering as one of your majors with business then Michigan is definitely the choice. Otherwise if you want to do finance/marketing/math and get more corporate I would choose nyu. Either way, both schools are top ranked business schools and you shouldn’t have a problem either way.

Yea, at the end of the day, both schools are great schools, so I would be fine at either way. One other question; Do you think Applied Math could land any engineering jobs, or is that just to be done along with finance and used in the corporate field?
