Ross Scholarship at SPS

Hi all, I was wondering if any NJ applicants to St. Paul's have been notified of being finalists for the Edmund Ross Scholarship?

I recall at an event for the scholarship earlier this year students would be notified at the end of Febraury. Well, here we are!

Wishing all the NJ applicants good luck :)

HI HI HI!!! We should be friends. Or your child and I should be friends. I’m waiting to hear from the SPS Ross scholarship as well. During the reception they said you would be notified around the beginning of March so I don’t think we’re there quite yet. Maybe I misheard because there was coffee and I like coffee. I’m so excited and I’m sorry if I sound over-excited but I’d like to meet other applicants who want to go to SPS.

Hi there! It’s nice to “meet” another family from NJ on here :)

The recent radio silence from all the schools is just about killing me. If you’re right it’s early March, that’s Friday - technically - and I would assume the committee would need to allow for calendars/scheduling. Still no word from you, PX, or anyone else?

Nope :frowning: I’m starting to lose hope a little. I wish I took down some contact info of the other people at the reception. Have you emailed SPS admissions? I’m getting anxious and might give in to emailing soon. They only interview around 3-4 people so it probably won’t be hard to schedule. I wouldn’t be surprised if the interviewees dropped everything for it either.

The scholarship is limited to certain areas and CC already represents a small number of applicants. I’ve tried asking around for other Ross Scholars but to no avail. Most SPS students don’t even know what I’m talking about.

So, PX, it’s five days and counting…any news yet from the SPS admissions office? The silence is killing me!

Nope. Wasn’t selected as a Ross Scholarship finalists. How about you?

Hello fellow New Jerseyans!

I was offered the Edmund Burke Ross Scholarship last year. It was so surreal. The package is truly amazing and it really opens a lot of opportunities having Mr. Ross as a mentor and benefactor.

In the end, though, I did not accept the offer. I chose to go to a different school (Andover) because of the fit. Don’t allow a financial aid package to decide your school decision – especially if you feel a school just isn’t a perfect fit.

A lot of schools like Andover and SPS will make sure the reason you are turning them down isn’t financial, because they have the endowments to ensure that everyone who wants to attend can afford to. If finances are an issue, contact the head of financial aid and start a dialogue – that’s what my mother did.

Sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake turning down the amazing Ross offer – but I have concluded I made the right decision. No regrets here!

Best of luck!
