Ross v. Wash U (Olin)

Hi, today I was finally accepted as a Ross preferred admit. The problem is that I have already in a deposit to Wash U as I had full intentions of going there. Now that I was accepted to Ross, my decisions has gotten much more complicated. What is everyone's opinion (biased or unbiased) of both of these business school and of the universities themselves

did u go to the olin spotlight thingy? i did, it sure was fun and i met a ton of great people. but ultimately, go to a college for a college not for friends. the ppl i met were great and i'm sure we'll keep in touch but college is still school. having visited both schools, i'd say go for mich, unless ur really set on washu. it's gorgeous but umich is getting brand spanking new facilities for ross so the overall quality of the program will increase next year. altho its current rankings are nothing to scoff at either. if u always pictured ur self going to a school w/great food and rolling green pastures, go to washu, if u want the real college experience w/football, keggers, and a great education, go u umich. i was accepted to nyu stern, washu olin, and umich and ultimately chose umich.

i was accepted to all three as well and will be attending Michigan as a PA...how can u turn down all that michigan is for washu .. especially wen michigan is ranked 3 in us news and 5 in bweek and olin is ranked 15 or 16 in bweek!

You should be able to call WashU and tell them that you withdraw your deposit and send another one to Mich. People do that for waitlist, so it should be fine.

P.S. Ross is unquestionably a top 5 undergrad business school and has recruiting that matches the Ivies. Olin, not so much. Business school is all about the alumni network and recruiting. Ross has the better of both worlds compared to Olin. Also, if you decide business isn't for you, you will have more opportunities in a big state school that offers everything to find what you really love.

Pick the school that will be the best fit for YOU.

Rankings shouldn't be a major decision. Pick based on fit. Note that recruiting is far superior at Stern and Ross than Olin.
