Ross Vs. Goizueta Business school

I am currently debating if I should attend Emory University or the University of Michigan. One of my biggest considerations are their business schools. Both schools are ranked within the top 5 in the nation but what are the real differences between the two. Is it worth taking the risk of going to michigan in which Ross is still very hard to get into while the acceptance rate of goizueta is around 70%?

I know at least 5 people in the last couple of years who have had this decision to make; all chose UMich without direct Ross admit and all 5 are now in Ross after their freshman year…

“Both schools are ranked within the top 5 in the nation but what are the real differences between the two.”

Please don’t tell me you put much creedence in Business Week’s rankings. You honestly believe the business schools at UVA and ND are better than Wharton? Emory is not a top ten program. USNWR’s rankings are the only ones I would trust in this case:

yeah that list is so jacked up. ND ahead of Wharton? But anyways I would say Ross is the better school

Yeah…those rankings mean nothing. To get a better picture of the actual rankings, just sort the lists by salary.

The schools with the higher average salaries will have more students going into finance and consulting. And even if you don’t want to do finance or consulting, the fact that banks/funds and consulting firms (among the biggest prestige whores) think these schools are “prestigious” enough for them means that your degree will open up doors in other fields quite easily as well.

go to ross. recruiting is FAR FAR FAR better

Thank you Business Week. Now, thanks to BW, you have impressionable kids who really believe that Mendoza and McIntire are better than Wharton or Ross!

OP, Goizueta is good, but it is not in the same league as Ross…not even close.
