Ross vs PROMYS 2012

I am applying to both this year, but am wondering if there are any significant differences between the two? Also, how competitive are their admissions?

Further, if anyone else has looked at the problems for the two programs, has anyone else found them really easy? I have solved 4 of the problems for Ross in the last hour while in class. How long do they expect the proofs to be?

Thanks

I certainly know that the first 3 ross problems are very easy, I did them today as well. I don’t know about the others.

Please don’t discuss application problems. I know you’re not outright talking about them, but it’s still not good to classify them as easy or hard.

Are you a Ross representative?

There have been a lot of comparisons in the past between Ross and PROMYS on these boards that you find by searching. This thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1262763-semi-definitive-ross-updated.html</a> in addition to a fairly comprehensive discussion of Ross also includes a decent amount of Ross PROMYS comparison and incorporates a response by someone who attended PROMYS. If you have more specific questions about the two I will be happy to answer them as well [I attended Ross the past two years and will be a counselor there this summer].

This thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1300037-ross-osu-selectivity.html</a> discusses the selectivity of Ross. Unfortunately, I don’t have more detailed information about this. I assume PROMYS is roughly similar in selectivity but I’m not sure.

Actual discussion of the application problems is of course prohibited. The application doesn’t seem to explicitly prohibit discussion of the difficulty of the application problems but it’s probably not ideal to talk about it. I’m pretty sure no one on this board is an official Ross representative but I have attended for the past two years and will be a counselor there this year. I don’t know hawaii4lyfe’s connection to the program.

Can someone provide links to both programs? This is the first time I’ve heard of them. Thanks in advance and good luck in the application process!

EDIT: nvm, found them, but does anyone know the tuition for Ross, I can’t find it.

^^Oh, I should have read more carefully. Thanks!

has anyone received their admission to promys yet?

Someone messaging me said they were recently accepted to PROMYS.

thanks very much for that. I just sent in mine to PROMYS last week so am crossing my fingers now!!!

Good luck! :)
