I would not know which one to choose if I got into Stern.

Stern is all about location and the have a 4 year program.
Ross is just as good and has a 3 year program plus football.

what do you guy think?

I had to choose between Stern and Michigan (no pre-admit back then).

Some things to think about:

Are you an in-stater? Do you care about how much you will be paying? Ross and Stern are both heavily recruited schools. You'll probably have the same career options upon graduation, but if you pay less for Ross as an in-stater and end up at the same place, you get a much better deal. Do you wish to become a hardcore finance buff (Stern)? Or maybe you want to study different approaches to management (Ross)? Also very important: How much do you love NYC? How much do you want an actual campus as opposed to scattered buildings in NYC?

Weather won't be that much different, and you get football at Michigan. It's also a gamble if you didn't get in as a pre-admit and hope to get in after freshman year, which is something I had to consider.

I was between stern and ross until I visited NYU..I really didnt like that they didnt have a real campus. \if all else equal, stern is better at the finance stuff (like investment banking)..especially if you want to end up on wallstreet. Its also great because you can work/intern at wallstreet firms even while you're at school. Otherwise, Ross is a bit better if you want to go into other areas. Theres also the concern that there is no garuntee of getting into ross (if youre not a preadmit). I think there was someone on CC who transferred from stern to ross after their first year. But theres a pretty slim chance of that since ross only accepts about 3% as transfers..

biggest differences between stern and ross are..

-ross has a campus, nyu doesn't. if you haven't visited yet, nyu is just basically a bunch of buildings.

-if you're a michigan resident, nyu's price tag is not worth it.

-ross does not encourage freshmen or sophomores to get internships. career resources are not even available to us, which sucks while stern strongly encourages internships.

and honestly, i don't know why people make such a big deal about football. in the end, the school is more important. for example, if you had a chance to go to harvard or yale, and you chose michigan just because of the huge football program, you'd be out of your mind.

Okay, here's from someone who barely knew what a touchdown was before I came to Michigan. It's more about the school spirit and having everything. And NYU isn't Harvard or Yale. NYU has an excellent business school, comparable to UM. However, it does not offer the traditional college experience... and this is the only time in our lives when we will have an opportunity to enjoy it.

Michigan's football team should not affect your decision on which school to go to...there are way more important factors than that.
