Anyone who applied to Ross Business School for preferred admit hear back yet?

ya.../admit

What are your stats?

Also, when did you get your acceptance to UMich..and your admit to Ross?

got in within like 3 weeks
engineering, preadmit like another couple weeks after
3.1 GPA, 15XX SATs old scale, all 5s on APs

hmm...thats weird I got into U of M lsa in December but I still haven't heard back from ross

how do you find out if you got in? do they email you?

Haven't heard back from Ross yet either. Accepted to LSA in Dec., but decided to do the preferred admit just before the Ross deadline of 1/5. I'm hoping

you are supposed to hear back from the preferred admit after LSA, right? not on the same email...

bearcats, you got in with a 3.1?

He goes to an elite boarding school (Hotchkiss I believe?)

ya i go to hotchkiss... so the stats might be a little misleading since even kids with like 2.5 GPA get into mich from our school ... and the average SATs is around 1380

oh wow. that school is impressive.

sigh... once again, my dream high school... >_<

bearcats how did ross notify you of your acceptance? i'm searching everywhere but can't find a trace of it

Yep bearcats, it's true. I attend an elite day school and kids with lower GPAs get into top schools because the courses are so tough and there is no grade inflation

Whats the easiest mich program to get accepted into?

Hotchkiss is indeed special, which is why I always ask Bearcat to qualify his GPA when stating it. A 3.1 GPA at Hotchkiss is equivallent to a 3.7+ GPA at most good high schools. Just so that you have an idea about Hotchkiss, here are some stats you may find interesting:

-570 total students, grades 9 through 12.
-$400,000,000 endowment ($700,000/student) On a per student basis, it is wealthier than most Ivy League schools save HYP.
- 810 acre campus (again, that's for just 570 students!)
-127 faculty members, 70% of which have graduate degrees.
-The boarding school of choice of the Ford family, which has sent several of their family members to study there for several generations. I even think they named their library after one of the Fords.
-Boys have a stricter dress code than girls. That must suck!

Anyway, in the last 4 years, here's where students matriculated (keep in mind that there are roughly 140 students per class, so we are out of the 550 or graduates):

-Ivy League: 112 (20% of the class)
-Other top 25 national universities: 111 (20% of the class)
-Top 15 LACs (like Amherst, Bowdoin, Carleton, Davidsion, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Wesleyan and Williams): 112 (20%)

Ok, just to summarize so far. 60% of Hotchkiss students have enrolled into top 25 national universities or top 15 LACs. Let us proceed.

-other good universities like Boston College, Brandeis, NYU, Tufts, USC, Wake Forest, UNC, UT-Austin etc... 176 (32%).

So, in short, 60% of Hotchkiss grads end up at Ivy League calibre universities and another 32% end up at top 40 national universities and top 25 LACs!

Yanksman, there are no "easiest" programs. For the programs people think are easier (like Kinesiology or Nursing), there are several lethal hurdles to overcome. For example, Kines generally reserves most of its spots for Division I athletes who are recruited on an athletic scholarship. Nursing will probably want to see very convinsing essays and ECs that point to a genuine passion for the profession. You are better off applying to the program you intend to major in.

hmm, was looking for those stats exactly Alexandre. Thanks ;)
