Seeing that 2300 people applied to pre-admit ... can it be assumed that the rate for people getting into the business next year is going to drop dramatically from 47%? the website said 700 something applied and now with so many people trying to get into ross that # is surely going to rise.. right?

2300 is a number which includes alll people. The people who apply from Michigan itself fo Ross , would be about the same unless a large perecentage of those rejected from the pre admit program choose Michigan as their univeristy.

However the email says they receive 60% lesser applications which in this case means they would receiev 920 applications compared to the 766 of last year. Since they will admit the same number of people - it could go down.

Remember, they assumed that 1,000 or less would apply to the pre-admit program this year... and it was 2300. On the one hand, if you have more pre-admits, this should reduce the freshmen applicants because some of the would be applicants were pre-admitted.

I tend to think there is a megatrend going on here... there will be more applicants in both categories. As a general rule, the more selective a school or program becomes the more applications they receive. The new building and the higher quality applicant pool should bolster the future application numbers in both categories.

Accepted to Ross preferred admit! Also got into UChicago and Princeton.

Probably headed to Princeton next year, but I feel a bit bad because I know Ross doesn't make that many offers to international students =S

Don't feel bad dude...Princeton is amazing.

Lion,

Do you really want to pick "Tony,The Tiger" over the Walverine? Just compare the football team uniforms of Princeton and UMich , you will know what I mean =).

I heard that the president of Princeton is a Walverine too and it might be the reason why the uniforms looks so similar ^_^.

Hei, go for the great school spirit, Go Blue!

So, I am having a difficult decision (i think). I got into Ross Pre-Admit. I love michigan and I have a sibling there, which would make going there amazing. My dilemma is that I was also offered a full ride at Emory's Goizueta Business school through a new program they are doing. Money is not a big issue, but the Goizueta program offers a lot of opportunities at Emory, and it is nice to be wanted. I know that both are great schools, with Michigan slightly better, but if anyone has any informative opinions that could help me out, that would be great.

I am also interested in marketing, and I have heard that Ross is not so strong in that area. I love both schools, but I am just concerned about Emory not being as strong or reputable as Ross is. Please Help!

"...it is nice to be wanted."

Yes it is, but if you are pre-admitted into Ross, that would also be a form of "being wanted" wouldn't it? I mean, only 10% of pre-admit applicants are admitted. That is pretty sepcial.

..."I am also interested in marketing, and I have heard that Ross is not so strong in that area."

Heh? Instead of listening to ignorant people, you should probably do your own research. Michigan is #1 or #2 in Marketing at the undergraduate level. In fact, Michigan is strong in all Business fields, so it really doesn't matter what you chose to focus on.

Obviously, Emory for free is a great deal, but if money really isn't an issue, go for Ross.

Whattodo,

Ross ranks #2 in marketing (US News 2007) and the Dean of Ross is a formal professor in marketing from Harvard B-school. So, Ross is pretty strong in marketing.

I was gonna mention Dean Dolan but ibdad beat me to it. I had a chance to listen to a talk by Christie Nordhielm and she was amazing. Dr Nordhielm was the 2003 L.G. Lavengood Outstanding Professor of the Year of the Kellogg School of Management. We stole her from the #1 Marketing school a few years ago.

Whattodo, believe, you will feel special and wanted as a Ross pre-admit. The program is fantastic.

Also, one of the knocks on Emory (and the reason I didn't apply) is that there is very little school spirit. (Just based on reading the college books and a friend of my parents who lives in Atlanta.) Although I'm not a big sports person, the atmosphere of a football game in the Big House cannot be replicated at Emory. However, Emory is a good school... their B-School is just a notch or two below Ross.

Any recent Ross admission decisions sent out (like during the first week of April) ?

did your wolverine access decision page mention anything when you guys were denied/accepted into preferred admit? perhaps under the "academic sub-plan"? thanks.

Preferred Admit status is not indicated on Wolverine Access.
