<p>Just remember people, numbers mean nothing if people write like angry monkeys...nowadays the competition is so similar that many schools are trying to look at the whole student, not just their numbers. So don't be discouraged by some of the overachieving numbers you see..because you are not seeing the ENTIRE app.</p>

<p>You know what's interesting though? Stanford, in its Prospectus, states that student do not necessarily have to well-rounded.</p>

<p>eiffelguy87...I know the admissions board people for Stanford...they say that everybody with a 1400+ is in the pool. Then they look at your essays, and those have to be really good. They are looking for a student that is well-rounded, but at the same time excels in one or two things. They aren't looking for braniacs, they are looking for people that will succeed in the real world.</p>
<p>Well, I'm in the 1200s (1290 if we're looking at two different sittings) so I recognize the possibility of an acceptance is slim. I'm hoping that they'll see that, though my SAT Is are low, I'm academically prepared for university work as I have attended UCLA and done well there and that I will contribute to the university's intellectual discussion, social life, and the total school program.</p>
<p>In fact, that is what I hope UCLA and all my other universities do.</p>
