ROTC Questions

Hi Everyone,
I’m a Senior and I’m going to the University of Michigan in the fall. I was kinda interested in taking Military Science courses as electives, and possibly being involved in the ROTC program, but I have some questions. First of all, I’m not in it for the Scholarship money, and am honestly not too keen on joining the army after graduation, but I do want to take elective courses that will boost my leadership skills, and allow me to learn new things. Add the sense of discipline and physical fitness, and it sounds like a deal. My main questions revolve around how much I can do without committing myself to the Army after graduation? I also want to know how much of a commitment it is, and if it takes your entire life. Thanks!

It has been a long time since I looked at it, but when I was a student, your first two years of ROTC classes were commitment free.

It’s been a long time for me, too, but I remember students could take ROTC classes like leadership for credit and without actually being in ROTC.
