hi, i just got into American from early decision and recived a four year ROTC scholarship. I am wondering if anyone has any info on the ROTC life at American and how class scheduling works out?

Unless things have changed significantly, there isn't much ROTC life at AU.

I enrolled in 1991 intending to use my Marine Corps ROTC scholarship. However, that program was cut just before I started; I had to choose between AU and ROTC at another school, and I chose AU.

I knew 2 upperclassmen who were in the Navy/Marine Corps ROTC program. I had 2 friends in my class who were in Air Force ROTC; I think their program was actually run out of Georgetown University. I knew one guy in Army ROTC (also honors program), and I had a friend who joined the Army Reserve after our freshman year. Other than those 5 people, I didn't see any ROTC/military life.

Also, you should be aware that AU's law school is one of the schools that tried to keep JAG from recruiting on campus (and failed, I believe, because the feds threatened to yank all funding, as I recall) due to the military's policy toward gays. That should give you some indication as to the overall climate.

Now, it's been 12+ years since I graduated, so things may have changed in that time. I'd be curious to hear what current/recent students say.

Yeah, I'm doing AFROTC so we'll have to see.

Hey,
Today i called American and asked a bunch of questions concerning the ROTC scholarship. They told me that class scheduling and ROTC classes work together so that their are no conflicts. As for me personally, i received a four year Army scholarship and all ROTC classes for ALL branches are taken at Georgetown University. No sweat since it is only 10 min. away. The Georgetown ROTC guy told me that there were twenty Army ROTC guys at American, so i assume that it has grown in recent years.

I'll let you guys know if i find out anymore.
