I recently received a Navy ROTC Scholarship, which is good at all of the schools I applied to. It pays full tuition, fees, and books, as well as a monthly paycheck.

I have notified the colleges I applied to of my acceptance for this scholarship. Will it help with admission if the college knows I have lots of money to attend?

List of eligible schools for the NROTC Scholarship that I applied to:
UC Davis
UC San Diego
Penn State
Embry-Ridlde Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach

As an indicator of your academic qualifications, and character qualities, it will certainly help. The aid would be attractive to the colleges if you are a stellar student, and they happen to need more “full freight” paying students.

(Remember room and board is not covered, and will be around $10K a year.)

Thank you for the feedback. I am waiting/working on other scholarships to come up with the 10k/year for room and board. I know some colleges wave this for ROTC scholarship recipients, but it entirely depends on the school, and I do not believe UCD or UCSD do

I think pretty much everyone who applies, meets the minimum requirements, passes the interview, and passes the PT test gets a scholarship right.

From a financial aid perspective, they will definitely take anyone who is willing to pay in full tuition (via the US Government), so they will like that.

Well, I’m not sure if it was a deciding factor or not, but I got a NROTC scholarship and I am four for four so far with college admissions. I got into Michigan, Florida, Penn State and Virginia Tech so far. I had pretty good stats but did not compare to many on this forum,

Well, you obviously are an out of state student for at least 3 of those schools. I know florida is REALLY hard to get into if you are out of state. congratz on your scholarship and acceptance btw

I contacted UC Davis and asked them if the scholarship helped with admission. They told me it did not help, but the NROTC ppl i contacted begged to differ. They said colleges cant officially tell you that it helps with admission, but it really does. I hope this is true
