<p>I read an online article written two years ago <a href="http://www.newsbull.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29884">http://www.newsbull.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29884</a> that Emory strongly disdains ROTC program. Do the students and professors alike still condescend upon the cadets? And can the course training count toward GER or no? The Emory Wheel article written six years ago <a href="http://www.emorywheel.com/detail.php?n=23206">http://www.emorywheel.com/detail.php?n=23206</a> obviously says they don't count but then I wonder that's the case with the new GER.</p>

<p>As far as I know there is no ROTC program on campus (at most there is one at a "cooperating institution" USNews.com:</a> America's Best Colleges 2008: Emory University: Campus Life.</p>
<p>If there were, I'm certain that it would not count for credit even under the new GER system.</p>
<p>There was no ROTC mentioning at all during my past 3 years at Emory. At most they just came with a booth like they used to in High School saying "Join the army/navy/marines"
But I dont think there's a ROTC program... and if there is I'd be surprised.</p>
<p>there's an airforce ROTC bridge program with Georgia Tech (one of my friends did it last year), but it's not exactly the easiest situation to work out</p>

<p>^I hope you're right. I don't plan to partake in ROTC, but I am disgusted when American colleges and universities restrict army/navy/af recruitment on campus. It shows a real lack of patriotism and it really bothers me.</p>

<p>That's why they are required on state universities. Private schools can ban who they want (as Emory, Yale, etc. have done in the past).</p>
<p>Robbyg mentioned the bridge program and I tried to do it for the Marine Corps (navy) but they dont have it. I believe they have army though...I heard its very small.</p>

<p>No, Emory and GT are 20 minutes away without traffic, which is miserable in Atlanta. You'd need about 45 minutes at least during the day between campuses, including time to find parking.</p>
