Rotc

So I am getting really curious about this ROTC program and I was wondering if anyone at UCLA is involved with the program. I think it would be a great experience and the financial aspects are great too. Could you give me some feedback on this program?

I am an Air Force cadet, its a lot of fun, if you are interested in the military, and there is no service commitment until you are a junior unless you get a scholarship (which pays for pretty much all school expenses except housing). What branch were you thinking about?

I am interested in the air force branch as well. The biggest perk for me was the financial coverage but if there was a service commitment of 4 years active and 4 years nonactive duty I do not think I can do it because I would have to also go to medical school and I do not want to prolong going to medical school because the time commitment to becoming a doctor is already of great length. Since I am already a first year at UCLA, are there any benefits or a time limit to joining ROTC? Thank you for your help.

I know the Air Force is looking for doctors, and I think they help pay for med school while you are in the Air Force. I would speak to a recruitment officer about that though. The service commitment is just 4 years active duty, but do not just take ROTC only to help pay for college, because scholarships are far from guaranteed, and if you don’t want to be an officer after college, you will be miserable. If you truly want to join the military, ROTC is a great way to do it. As a civilian, you can sign up for the Aerospace Science class without joining ROTC, it can be a good way to talk to the other cadets, get something of a feel for the program, and snag 2 credits of pretty easy A.
