Has anybody tried this service and was this a convenient and safe way to go back and forth to school for a weekend or school break? It seems like it would be all students and they could be reading, relaxing or studying in the bus instead of driving.

gah its sooo expensive. Ill just borrow a friends car and go :p

As a freshman last year, I looked for alternatives to get to Miami on weekends on a cheaper scale. I decided to try TMT transportationa and was extremely disappointed. The "staff" (2 or 3 girls and the bus driver were the ones I saw representing the company) was unprofessional and very rude, the buses had a horrible smell to them (imagine being next to a landfill for 8 hours; just a metaphor), and we usually got to our destination, either Miami or Tallahassee, two or more hours later than expected. A girl walking to her dorm by herself at midnight is not my epitome of a safe trip.

Just to show how "professional" this company is... last year I had planned to come down for a weekend to visit my family. Turns out a hurricane was heading towards South Florida and I, making the most reasonable decision, decided not to take the trip. I consistently tried calling the company about 3 days before departure (that's when the whole hurricane predictions/forecasts became available) and no one answered nor replied to the messages left on the machine. When someone finally answered the phone, they were very rude and did not seem to take into consideration the circumstances (and I know a lot of people were not able to make the trip as well). I had to wait a week just for them to tell me that they did not give refunds, and instead I had to use my ticket some other weekend (and my "ticket" expired 3 months from my cancelled trip). Here comes the kicker though, in order for me to travel to Miami on any given weekend, I would need to be placed in standby and see if any seats were available on that day. Twice did I haul my luggages to the stadium where the buses were stationed and twice did they deny me going to Miami (despite my being there approximately an hour and a half before departure).

Never have I had to encounter such an unprofessional company until I booked a trip with TMT. For this reason, my options in traveling back and from South Florida are either through airplane or by driving myself (I refuse to give any more of my money to this company).

To reach this company, the best way would be to dial their Gainesville number. All they appear to have is an automated machine for their Tallahassee number.

Thanks so much for your experienced reply.
It sounded like a good option but I guess we will make other transportation arrangements for my son.

has anyone else experienced their service?

Lmao such a huge bump. But here’s my take:

[Prices]
-Costs about $80 for round trip during “non-holidays” from Tallaclassy
-Costs about $110 for round trip during “holidays” from Tallaclassy
-Sort of pricey but since there is no other viable alternative for them to compete against, they continue to keep them the same.

[Professionalism]
-Almost none what-so-ever.
-If you call the Tallahassee office, almost 95% you will get an answering machine as stated in the post from 2006 above. Seems like some things never change.
-If you go and visit the Tallahassee office (under the Woodward parking Garage) you will be greeted with an unsympathetic person who cares only about your money who will then proceed to take that money from you if you choose to take their service =D
-The email (lilpaez@aol.com) is 90% of the time unmonitored so do NOT expect a response.
-The person in charge “Lil Paez” is probably THE rudest person that I have ever spoken to on a phone. Not sure if that comes from her limited knowledge of the English language or some other factor.

[Timings]
-If the bus is scheduled to leave at 2pm from Tallahassee, expect it to leave NO earlier than 2:30. Most of the times it ends up being 3pm.
-If the bus is scheduled to arrive at your destination at 10pm (i.e. Pompano to Tallahassee is normally 3pm to 10:30pm), expect to be at the destination at midnight.
-Usually the bus is 1 hour late leaving from Tallahassee due to people not showing up early and is usually 1:30 minutes late arriving at the destination due to the food stop that we make.

[Extra charges]
-They charge extra for large bags. Sometimes the price is $5 and other times it is $10. Just goes to show there is no professionalism in regards to charging for minor things and keeping things consistent.

[Overall grade]

D-

BUT, they still make money because there is no alternative. Go for it if you can’t drive down with your friends or take greyhound which is just pure hell.

you can also try the greyhound buses. They’re pretty decent and go from Tallahassee to Spring Hill (near my town) for $95 round-trip and I think like $45 ish for one way. I use this bus company when I visit my friend in Fort Pierce during the summers and my fare costs about $120 for a 271 mile round-trip…

Ahh, thanks so much for the info @satscholar. I just wanted to know how “good” this company actually was before I waste my precious $80 dollars on their garbage service.

80 bucks round trip sure beats Greyhound prices and fellow travelers. I like not having to scan the rows for one non-threatening person to sit next to, and then having to go back up the bus to make sure I didn’t miss a non-threatening person who didn’t smell bad :)

I purchased a r/t ticket miami/tallahassee/miami and made a mistake with the return date (9/6/10 instead of 8/22/10. An immediate requested for correction was made from ms. Paez, who’s only concern was that it could not be corrected. Abiding by the cancellations rules, she refused to make a change. Multiple e-mails between, ms. Paez and myself were exchanged between 8/11/10-8/22/10. She requires a 72 hour prior, and this gave her an 11 day window to try and work with me. The only solution given was to purchase a one way for $65.00 i needed to get back, family and work matters, explaining to her she insist that was the only way to solve the problem, as per her request a purchase was made on saturday, and by 12:30am she was stating that the bus was sold out and if i wanted to go stand by i would need to pay cash to the driver. In fear of my situation, i went to the station 2 hours and a half before checking in. The bus that has a capacity for 53 passengers only had 19 passengers at the fsu station . The condition of these buses are not healthy,a/c, cleanliness, schedules etc should be looked into. Traveling on 8/15/10 to fsu a female student was left behind in the food court, coming back on 8/22/10 dropping off a female student on the side of the turnpike, mile marker 133 is not safe. Having a web that you can’t make corrections, and not providing proper customer service is not correct, keeping monies in this matter is not correct. I have all the e-mails if needed. I would like a refund for the purchase made. And she needs to stop making false advertisement of what she does offer on these buses, from wi-fi to a trustworthy schedule.

THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO TRAVEL FROM TALLY-MIAMI:

[Luxury Bus Miami to Orlando | Atlanta to Miami | Red Coach USA](http://www.redcoachusa.com)

This looks great but I cannot locate any times/dates of actual service to Tallahassee on the website…

Thanks ladivajackie! I’ve been looking for a bus service from Tallahassee to Orlando but couldn’t find another one other than TMT, and I do not want to be riding in those TMT buses for 5+ hours… Thanks for the link!
p.s. Plus they are so much cheaper than TMT

For travel between all the major Florida Universities and points throughout Florida, spend the extra $ 20 for your kids and let them travel safely and in comfort- Try BIG RED COACHES-
I thought this web site didn’t permit free company advertising as witnessed by the post just prior to mine ???

You are so right you discribe everything about this TMT/GMG company it’s service, and it’s staff perfectly!!! I don’t recommend. You’re better of walking.

I’m surprise that you were able to mention a company…well I’m glad to see your comment, I AGREE 100%, students, family and friends should travel with RED COACH USA!

My son, a freshman, has used Red Coach once and loved it.

Most of the time Red Coach is good. But their web site has been messed up, which resulted in overbooking. They replaced the 27 seat bus with a bus with more seats, without telling the passengers who were booked months ahead. If you are paying more for a “luxury” bus and then get a regular bus, you should be entitled to some sort of compensation. No adjustment to the price was offered when I called after a bus ride which was not what I paid for.

I noticed they now add larger capacity buses during holiday periods, but at least they do disclose that the bus has more seats, and you know what you’re getting.
