is anyone going?

not me. I personally think that the information that i'll get from orientation is enough. if i lived in Austin, the roundup was free (is it?), and i have absolutely nothing to do on the weekend, then i would consider going. dont' get me wrong, it'll be nice to go, but i don't think it'll be worth the gas and the time.

it does seem like a waste of time if you already know a lot about UT and are busy. I'm going to visit my siblings that weekend, go shopping, go to a class with my sister, and probably go to explore UT. so that kinda makes up for it. but yeah i don't think i would drive up just for that....you can probably find all the info they are going to tell you on the internet

We'll be there that day, but for Rise and Shine.

What? No one goes just to party?

i'm going basically just to tour the campus though and visit my friends up there

that weekend isnt the party version of roundup. March 7th is university sponsored round up where parents come, go to info sessions, etc. The REAL roundup, the greek sponsored one, is a couple weeks after that.

I'll be at both! see you cc-ers there! :)

Ah right, I was thinking of the march 27th weekend

Do we really have to be there by 8 A.M. - 8:35 A.M. to check in? Is it possible to skip some of the pointless activities like Opening Texas Spirit Rally with Texas Cheer squad and Longhorn Alumni Band?

Anyone? Please feel free to share any relevant advice/information

The UT Roundup was kind of pointless. The Explore UT thing that's going on can be fun, but it's more targeted at younger kids from what I can tell.

Roundup, which is the last weekend in March, is one of the most fun weekends you can go to. I highly recommend it to anyone. It's really a blast.

what all do you do at the greek sponsered roundup? i'm thinking about going

Alright well i think i'm not going to go to UT roundup then. I'll definitely be at greek roundup though.

I'm going! How does it work for guys?

And I don't understand how you "try all the frats"...do they have booths or is their a party schedule or how does Round Up actually work? I can find no details on the internet AT ALL!

This old thread has some information about Round Up and fraternity rush in general (along with some sorority stuff)

Here is another thread with more specifics about Roundup

is Round Up for spring rushers for for people rushing that next fall? I'm transfering to UT next fall as a sophomore and don't know if I should go to Round Up or not

It is for people who are rushing next fall. Spring rush (for whichever fraternities have it) is over by now.

do you think it will be a problem that i will be a sophomore? do they have alcohol at the event?

also: how does round up work?

if you have to be on lists to get into certain parties i dont understand how they expect people to know people to get in. im coming from san antonio and dont know anybody... so they expect me to just "go down there" that weekend and figure everything out? you would think they would at least have a website that explained how it works

No and Yes.

There are other sophomores too, especially those who were Capped.

Yes, there is alchohol at the parties.
