Rowan University vs. Widener University for Biology/Pre-Med

Hey guys im trying to decide between rowan and widener. rowan is cheaper but im not sure which one will better prepare me for medical school. I will be a freshman in the fall.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS!

Go to Rowan. Rowan has two medical schools plus instate students have always been given preference at RWJ Medical.

This isn’t much of a decision in my opinion. The Rowan campus has benefitted from very smart investments and is on the rise as a school.

Widener has very poor retention and graduation rates. Rowan’s could better but they are much better than Widener’s.

What is the difference in cost?

rowan after my scholarships will be 22,000 per year and widener will be 29,000 per year. Thank you for your comments i really appreciate it!

Widener is certainly not worth the extra money and is not as good a school.

If you haven’t visited Rowan I suggest you do and don’t miss the Rowan Boulevard section.

I am visiting tomorrow for accepted students day what is rowan boulevard?

It is a $300 million project to redevelop downtown Glassboro and link it to Rowan.

There are student apartments, shops, restaurants and a large Marriott hotel.

Prior to this, substantial investment was put into the science and engineering facilities.

They have done a good job on that school.

I would go to Rowan for the lower price as long as you like it during your visit.

Definitely Rowan

I’d say Rowan unless you like Widener better. Rowan area seems okay-ish, nothing special but the academics are very good.

Did you get into Honors at Rowan?
I agree overall that the extra cost isn’t worth it for Widener but if you got Honors at Rowan it should absolutely be a no-brainer.
Rowan Boulevard is a REALLY SMART idea, win-win for the students, the university, the state, and the businesses involved.

I am going to try and apply for honors at rowan. Do you think I should go there even if i don’t get into rowan

Follow the money. Rowan is less expensive for you and it is the stronger school, even if you do not get into honors.

Rowan is better than widener, yes. And rowan honors is better than rowan. so if you get honors, double kudos, but even if you don’t rowan is the best choice for you.

hey guys so i went to accepted students day yesterday and after considering all my options ive decided to commit to rowan!!! Im going to be attending there in the fall does anyone have any helpful hints about the university!

I’m sure there is a Facebook Page for the Class of 2020. You can meet other students there.

How was your visit?

@shiberjesse : it’d be very useful to other students who read these threads, some of whom have to make decisions right now, if you could talk about your visit and explain how you made your decision.

ok! thanks!

@shiberjesse - You can get into Philly easily via bus from Rowan
The campus is what you make of it, so make the most - join clubs, participate in RAH events etc.

Have fun!

PS We were the ones with the yellow lab puppy at Accepted Students day :0
