Rowan vs Ramapo

Trying to decide on a safety in state(New Jersey) school other then Rutgers. Went to visit Ramapo yesterday and it did not seem like a fit for my son. Is anyone familiar with Ramapo and Rowan enough to compare and contrast them for me? I have read the statistics...looking for deeper insight.
Thanks

I have visited both campuses. My children did not attend either of these schools. I would consider locations, and point out to my kids that Rowan is near Phili and Ramapo is near NYC in the decision if both were a good fit. If Ramapo does not seem like a fit, you might not need to consider it further. Is Rowan a good fit?

We have not visited Rowan yet. I was hoping someone familiar with both schools could give me there input on things that are the same and different with both. For instance you visited both campuses - is Rowan a similar campus (other then location)? Do the academics seem to be comparable? When you visited did the student body seem to be the same? Any impressions or observations would be appreciated.

Linda, we visited Rowan for a shorter period of time. That said, I thought that the students on Rowan’s campus were not as strong as those on Ramapo’s campus, but this is just a “feeling” based upon one snapshot of Rowan. I do think there may be a better chance at merit aid for a B+ kiddo at Rowan. I say that because I can tell you that my son applied to Ramapo and so did a few of his friends. They were all B+ students with very solid SAT/ACT scores. None were offered merit aid. I have heard of more students getting some merit aid from Rowan, but I don’t know any specifics. My son attends a small private U for a bit less than what Ramapo would have costed b/c we did not get a FA grants through Ramapo either. Also, I feel that one really needs a car on both campuses to feel comfortable for 4 years and we did not want that additional expense. I was not particularly in love with either school, but if $$ were competitive our son would have been fine attending either school. The fact is that unless one has very high stats, these schools are VERY expensive (we are instate). I find the cost to be a sad situation.
