I started rowing last fall 4 months ago and I really enjoy the sport. Im currently a novice but I was moved up to a varsity squad for winter training. The first 2k I did was a 8:17 and in december my 2k is 7:38. I come to the extra practices, jog before practice , and work out when there is no practice. I weigh 177 and what are d1 college req for heavy weights? Im also 179.5 cm nearly 6ft

From what I understand… (I will defer to other experts on this forum that are much more well informed than me) …Competitive Rowing programs are looking for sub 6:30 2k times. Of course that depends on the program. Many times coaches are looking for size 6’2" + and good athletic potential as well. That being said no matter your size, if you have solid erg scores, good rowing technique and success in HS/Club, you can certainly pursue rowing at the next level.

OP … are you male or female?
