Rowing

I know rowing requires a lot of time commitment(9 practices a week). Will I still be able to have the traditional experience(like play intramural sports and stuff like that) if I still do rowing.

Thanks

It’s pretty intensive. The run together early morning and practice in the later afternoon either on water or in the boathouse. It might depend on the intramural sport and classload. Also I think they practice and train all year. You might just contact one of the coaches. The Porter Boathuse is awesome–largest in the US for colleges.

thanks, I have talked to the freshmen coach but he is no longer there anymore. My friends rows right now for them but he is kind of biased since he is on the team and wants me to do it. I guess we will just see this fall!

There are no “traditional” sports or activities that most participate in. Everyone does their own thing, each student’s UW experience is unique. If you choose rowing you will join a group with similar interests and it won’t matter what anyone else is doing with their time. You also won’t have time (or energy) for other sports. Go ahead and try out for Crew, if you make the team- great. If not, or if you decide the time commitment is too great for you, you still can choose many other options later.
